Medela Mommy Party Giveaway

As many of you know, I am a nursing mom and a huge breastfeeding advocate, so I was thrilled to be able to host a Medela Mommy Party. These parties allow women to discuss breastfeeding and learn about some of the great Medela products available to them. Medela sent me a huge box full of all sorts of fabulous products for nursing moms and it was so much fun to be able to check them out with the moms at my party. And the moms got to go home with some great goodie bags as well!

Medela makes some of the best known and highest quality breast-pumps on the market; their selection includes manual pumps, electric pumps and hospital-grade pumps. My box included a Pump in Style Advanced shoulder bag breast-pump, which is one of Medela's electric pumps perfect for every day use. The Pump in Style Advanced line also comes in backpack and messenger bag styles, so that moms can find the style that works best for them. I like the Quick Clean Wipes because, in addition to cleaning your pump on the go, you can use them to clean changing tables, high chairs and other dirty things. But the pump accessory that I thought was neatest was the Quick Clean Micro-Steam Bags. Just put water and pump parts in the bags and microwave for clean pump parts in 3 minutes; each bag can be used for 20 cleanings and can be used to store pump parts between pumpings.

In addition to making great breast-pumps, Medela also makes lots of products for all nursing moms, even those who don't pump; these include both cotton and disposable bra pads, lanolin, gel pads and breast shields. I use Medela's cotton bra pads and they work wonderfully! I love that Medela is a company who is not just trying to sell breastfeeding and pumping gear to nursing moms; they actually support breastfeeding mothers on numerous fronts, including supporting the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, offering accurate breastfeeding advice on their website and recommending trusted sources to get further breastfeeding help and information.

And now on to the really great part...Two lucky readers have the chance to win a prize pack filled with some of the awesome goodies that Medela sent my way! I love breastfeeding too! And as we think about having a third, I love that I know I'll be able to take the baby weight back off pretty easily because I breastfeed!

I'm really proud that I breastfed my daughter! I pumped for several months at work, following in the footsteps of some coworkers who established a special locked room for nursing moms to pump. Now, several more new mommies feel comfortable coming back to work and continuing to breastfeed (and pump). I hope I'll get to do it again soon! :)

Breastfeeding gives you the perfect chance to have bonding time with your little one. It always forces you to take time to just sit and feed your baby. A great chance for moms to breathe!

Not only does it promote bonding between mommy and baby, breastfeeders save over $1000 dollars in the first year because they don't buy formula.

I am expecting my first in December and I think breastfeeding is the most natural option for a baby. It was the way we were created and so I cannot see why I wouldn't at least give it a try. Plus it seems to be a great bonding time for mother and baby!

I think between the benefits health-wise for the baby, and the ability to bond in such a singular way, nursing is the only way to go when it's an option.

There are so many reasons why I love breastfeeding. I am a first time Mom and bf my 8 1/2 month old baby girl. I have calculated that we have saved over 1600 by bf, I know this is the healthiest for my baby and I love the bond we share. I hope to continue until she is at least 1 and longer if we both decide.
